California statewide assessments will be given to all students in 3rd through 8th grades between April 22 and May 31. The specific dates of testing are determined at each school; please contact your school's office for details.
Students in grades 3 through 8 will take English Language Arts and Math assessments. In addition, students in grades 5 and 8 will also take a Science assessment.
To make sure your child feels comfortable taking the tests, you can do the following:
- Explain to your child that these tests are used as tools to help them learn, and that they should not be anxious or scared.
- Remind your child that you and their teacher want them to try their very best and are there to help, every step of the way.
- Explore the practice tests with your child on the CAASPP Online Practice and Training Tests web page at www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html so they can become familiar with the platform and setup of the tests.
Student score reports will be available in Powerschool at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. For additional information about California's assessment program, please see any of these sites.
For questions about state-wide testing, please contact your school's principal, or Kevin Fairchild, Director of Assessment and Learning Support, at 619.258.2356 or [email protected].
